Welcome to our page for information covering the Disneyland Paris Resort. Located an hour from Paris, France in the town of Marne-la-Vallee, the resort is one of Europe’s most visited destinations. As the largest Disney resort outside of the United States, the Disneyland Paris Resort features two theme parks, 8 Disney resort hotels, 7 associated hotels, a golf course, a campground and two shopping centers.
Following the massive success of the Tokyo Disney Resort in the 1980s, Disney begin focusing on development of parks overseas. The Disneyland Paris Resort became The Walt Disney Company’s second international resort following the Tokyo Disney Resort, opening in 1992.
Opening with Disneyland Paris, arguably Disney’s most beautiful castle park, the resort struggled immediately. On opening day, guest attendance was below expected and the trend continued. Castmembers quit their jobs due to poor working conditions and the resort faced a lack of things to do.
The Disneyland Paris Resort continued to struggle, despite the efforts of Disney. In 2002, the resort’s second theme park opened, Walt Disney Studios Park. Considered the worst Disney park in the world, the park is currently undergoing massive expansions to reinvent its image and build on Disney intellectual property.
In 2017, The Walt Disney Company took full control of the resort, by acquiring Euro Disney SCA, the resort’s operating company. With the acquisition of Euro Disney SCA, The Walt Disney Company now had full control of the resort. Paris is currently the only international resort solely under the control of The Walt Disney Company.
In 2018, The Walt Disney Company announced the company would invest €2 billion into the resort. Most of the investment would be used to expand Walt Disney Studios Park, adding themed areas based on Frozen, Marvel and Star Wars. The first phase of the expansion is slated to start in 2021, with the Hollywood themed areas of the park already closed to be removed for the expansion.
We first visited the resort in 2018. Despite its troubled history, we enjoyed our time at the resort. Disneyland Paris is by far the most beautiful castle park. Although the park lacks a large lineup of attractions, it does include the best theming. The park also includes the best versions of the classic Disney attractions. From Space Mountain to Big Thunder Mountain, each of the classics finds their best iteration here at Disneyland Paris.
Walt Disney Studios Park is small and feels like Disney California Adventure before 2012. The park does include some great attractions, like Crush’s Coaster, but the park lacks a solid design and atmosphere. With its expansion, it will become like California Adventure and Hollywood Studios, a park of franchises and no central theme. Even with its setbacks, the park is still worth the visit for its exclusives attractions.

I was just reading about that new Little Mermaid show. The live one. It’s on ABC. It’s kind of a bad show though. At least that’s what I heard. Oh well better luck next time I guess…
