Disneyland Resort

Welcome to our page for information on the original Disney theme park destination, the Disneyland Resort, located just outside Los Angeles in Anaheim. As the only Disney resort to open under the supervision of Walt Disney himself, the Disneyland Resort is considered a special place for many Disney fans.

Walt spent almost of all his life savings to build Disneyland in a year to create a different kind of theme park for not only children, but also their families. As theme parks were dark places in the early 1950s, Walt wanted to created something truly different.

And he did. Since its opening in 1955, Disneyland has become a birthright for children all over the world. Although Walt Disney died in 1966, his park and his theme park vision continued and Disneyland has expanded considerably. Originally, the resort consisted of one park, Disneyland, and one hotel, the Disneyland Hotel.

Today, the resorts consists of two parks (Disneyland and Disney California Adventure), three resort hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Resort and Spa, Paradise Pier Hotel) and an entertainment district, Downtown Disney. Like its sister park in Florida, Disneyland received its own Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, proving Disneyland is still a major theme park today, over 60 since it first opened its gates.

Stella and I have been passholders at the Disneyland Resort since 2013. In the last seven years, we’ve been on every ride, eaten at almost every restaurant and even spent unimaginable sums of money to stay at the resort hotels. We’ve been to the hard ticket Halloween parties and waited for hours to view the Christmas fireworks. If there is one thing we can call ourselves experts, it’s the Disneyland Resort. With a commute of twenty minutes from our home, Disneyland is our go to spot for fun and dining.
