Although Walt Disney died in 1966, his park and his theme park vision continued and Disneyland has expanded considerably. Today, the resorts consists of two parks (Disneyland and Disney California Adventure), three resort hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Resort and Spa, Paradise Pier Hotel) and an entertainment district, Downtown Disney. Like its sister park in Florida, Disneyland received its own Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, proving Disneyland is still a major theme park today, over 60 since it first opened its gates.
