If you are looking for the ultimate stay at the Disneyland Resort, we recommend booking a signature suite at the Disneyland Hotel. Located on the top floor of the Adventure Tower, the hotel hosts five signature suites that are the most decked out themed rooms at the Disneyland Resort. It’s clear Disney set its Imagineers loose as they filled every suite with incredible details to build a stay you will never forget. From staying in a suite deep in the jungle or a suite filled to the brim with hidden Mickeys, this is no ordinary hotel stay, but an experience.
Throughout our numerous stays at the Disneyland Hotel, the one thing we have yet to stay in a signature suite. Fortunately, as guests of the Disneyland Hotel’s E-Ticket Club (the hotel’s Club Level Lounge), we have toured all five suites and seen firsthand the crazy amount of details Disney Imagineering poured into each suite. The five suites are the : Fairy Tale Suite, Big Thunder Suite, Pirates of the Caribbean Suite, Adventureland Suite and the Mickey Mouse Penthouse.
To sum up the suites: they are awesome. I have never seen any hotel room remotely close to the signature suites. Unless you somehow score a stay at the Cinderella Castle Suite at Magic Kingdom or the Disney Dream Suite in New Orleans Square, these suites are easily the best Disney hotel rooms in the United States.
However, with their awesomeness, comes an incredible price tag. Disney does not publicly publish their prices for these suites, but through castmembers and word of mouth, we concluded the price is between $2500 – $4000/night. Discounts are almost unheard of. With a normal hotel room costing about $300/night at the Disneyland Hotel, expect to pay a pretty penny to stay at one of these suites.
Oh yeah, they are usually sold out too. We ask to tour these suites every time we visit the hotel and we are probably successful in seeing the rooms about 15% of the time since they are almost always occupied. Not only expect to pay some money, but plan to book way in advance to stay at one of the suites
Below, we will break down each suite. We will also include the list of perks available to those staying in the signature suites. Thankfully, the high price tag does include some great perks along with the awesome rooms.
Additionally, we really only have pictures of the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite. We have been in each suite but most pictures are terrible so I will instead describe their features as best I can. Professional photos of all the suites can be found online on the official Disneyland website. I recommend you check out those photos after you read this post to truly appreciate the amount of detail found in each suite.
Anyway, let’s get to it!
Perks
Guests staying at any of the signature suites receive the following amenities along with the standard hotel amenities:
- Automatic upgrade to Club Level with full use of Club Level Services and the Club Level Lounge, The E-Ticket Club
- Personal VIP Vacation Planner
- Preferred viewing locations for parades and shows
- Priority dining reservations
With rooms averaging $2500 – $4000/night, we are glad Disney includes some great amenities for signature suite guests. A complimentary upgrade to Club Level is a no brainer. Club Level provides a more luxurious experience for guests and it makes sense to include it for those staying in a signature suite.
For those unfamiliar with Club Level, the biggest perk is access to the exclusive E-Ticket Club, a lounge offering complimentary food and drinks (including alcohol) all day. The lounge also includes its own set of castmembers for requests. Plus, the lounge offers breathtaking views of Downtown Disney and the two theme parks. The lounge offers a place to relax during the day and at night you can view the fireworks show at Disneyland, complete with music piped in.
We stay Club Level every time we visit the Disneyland Hotel and it makes the hotel stay incredible. The signature suites are located on the same floor as the E-Ticket Club, allowing signature suite guests to enter the lounge within seconds. With food, beverages and plenty of booze, you’ll probably make that walk quite a bit. For a more in-depth review of Club Level at the Disneyland Hotel, please read Review – E-Ticket Club – Disneyland Hotel’s Club Level Lounge HERE.
Along with Club Level, signature suites guests receive a personal VIP Disney vacation planner. Once you book your suite, you will be in touch with your very own Disneyland castmember who can book any experience you like. Not only can they book you the normal experiences, but they can also book preferred seating for the shows, parades and priority seating for dining reservations.
In 2014, I had some issues during a stay at the Disneyland Hotel. When I contacted Disneyland, they not only invited me back with a discounted stay, but also provided me the VIP experience with my own Disneyland VIP coordinator. It was fantastic and it is without a doubt the best way to do Disneyland.
With this service, I was able to book priority dining reservations, preferred seating for Fastasmic! Mickey and the Magical Map, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade and the Disneyland fireworks show. My coordinator arranged for some special room service requests and tours. Plus, upon arrival at the hotel, a castmember met us in the lobby and checked us in privately. The coordinator also called us each day to ensure all was well and we had a phone number to call if we ran into any issues. Simply, it is a fantastic perk and definitely helps offset the hefty price tag for a signature suite. Below is some of my official itinerary for my VIP stay. The full itinerary can be found HERE as a pdf link!
I can’t say it enough how much VIP services adds to your vacation experience. We never worried about a difficult dining reservation nor did we have to fight for a spot to view a parade or a show. We seemed to have Disney castmembers at the ready to help with any request. Plus, after a long day, you feel like the 1% when you walk up the steps of the Main Street Train Station, provide your name to a castmember and they seat you with a full blown view of Sleeping Castle and Main Street for the fireworks. Trust me, the price may be worth it for an absolutely flawless vacation.
With the perks listed, let’s dive into the rooms!
Fairy Tale Suite
Of the five suites, the Fairy Tale Suite is the smallest. With one bedroom and one bathroom, the suite can sleep two adults. Despite its small size, it is easily the most intimate and I can see it as a great choice for an anniversary or honeymoon.
The entrance to the suite invokes royalty with its marble door and columns. Once inside, Tinker Bells literally flies across the room and statues of the princesses dance to your left. The bed is an all out themed four poster bed and you can easily see Cinderella sleeping here. The suite faces Downtown Disney and offers a spectacular view of Disneyland, especially during the fireworks show. There is a TV that may be in the way. Thankfully, it can lower into its entertainment center allowing you to see the full breathtaking view.
The bathroom is enormous. It includes two separate sinks, a walk-in shower and a full size bathtub. Behind the bathtub is a hand-cut tile castle mural surrounded by two columns. There is also an area for any princess to put on her makeup. The suite is designed to transport you into a fairy tale and it knocks it out of the park.
Big Thunder Suite
At 1400 square feet, the Big Thunder Suite can sleep six adults as it transports you to the Old West. Instead of being a poor miner sleeping in the dirt, the Big Thunder Suite makes you feel like a successful railroad tycoon. With two bedrooms, a living room and a wet bar made from petrified wood, it is the most luxurious accommodation in the wilderness!
The foyer and living room are themed to a mine shaft and guests can hear the sound of howling wolves when they press the doorbell. Sounds from the Big Thunder Mountain attraction can also be heard inside. The bedrooms feature repurposed wood from a Midwestern barn and the living room displays antique mining tools. The master bedroom features a sliding barn door and a free-standing copper tub that looks straight out the 1850s. If Big Thunder Mountain is your favorite attraction, this is the suite for you.
Pirates of the Caribbean Suite
The 1750 square foot Pirates of the Caribbean Suite is the ultimate suite for any pirate fan. Upon arrival, the doorbell plays Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me). Once inside, the two bedroom suite is absolutely decked out in vintage Spanish Colonial furniture, concept art from the 1967 Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and props from the movies.
The dining area features a fine oak dining table with a “black pearl” center piece. The wet bar includes a replica of Captain Jack Sparrow’s revolver and a grand faux fireplace with realistic flames holds down the main living area.
The master bedroom is huge and features a four poster bed and vintage furniture. The master bathroom includes a bathtub and a walk-in shower. The second bedroom includes two queen beds and of course its own bathroom featuring some great concept art of the attraction. Between the two bedrooms, the suite can sleep six adults.
We spent a lot of time viewing this suite and we agree it would be a ton of fun to stay here. We were even offered an upgrade to this suite, for an additional $1400 on top of our current hotel bill. We declined but agreed to stay here one day. The suite is so good even Captain Jack Sparrow himself has stayed here. But, in our opinion, the BEST suite is the Adventureland Suite.
Adventureland Suite
The Adventureland Suite is themed to a 1930s safari and is straight out of the same time period as the Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones Adventure. Like the other suites above, one does not “rough it” in the Adventureland Suite. This suite would fit perfectly in the British Raj and the safari theming is a mix of Indian and African jungles.
The doorbell is a mix of pounding drums and animal sounds. Once inside, the safari begins with exotic artifacts, themed background music (a Disney hotel room first) and a bookshelf with highlights from your safari. Fun fact, the bookshelf guards a “hidden room”. The main living area also includes a faux fireplace, wet bar and dining room table.
The suite features two highly themed bedrooms with room for six adults. The master bedroom is absolutely met for a British aristocrat. The room includes a four poster bed, a foot spa and sound effects to mimic the sounds of the rain forest or the African savanna. The second bedroom is themed to make you feel like you are in a safari tent. Literally, the bedroom is constructed as a safari tent. It’s unbelievable. If you ever wanted to enter the world of Indiana Jones, this is the suite for you.
Mickey Mouse Penthouse
The last signature suite on our list is the Mickey Mouse Penthouse. This suite is a love letter to Mickey Mouse. Rather than transport you to a different time and place, this suite celebrates Mickey Mouse. Figurines, decorations, images and artist depictions of Mickey Mouse can be found everywhere. He even greets you when you enter the suite!
The main living room and dining area feature tons of hidden mickeys. His likeness covers every square inch and his color scheme highlights the room. The master bedroom is more subtle, but Mickey is still the star. If you set your shower at the right temperature, a silhouette of Mickey will appear on the tiles. The second bedroom, for the kids, is much more playful with its Mickey theming. The room features a sleek designed amoire with tons of the latest video games.
If you are looking for a casual signature suite with your kids, this is the top pick. The lamps feature Mickey, the phone is Mickey and some parts of the wall are covered in Mickey stretches. The second bedroom doubles as a playroom and I can’t image any kid (or adult) ever wanting to leave its comfy and playful setting. Rent this suite for some good fun and long lasting memories with your family.
Conclusion
The signature suites at the Disneyland Hotel are some of the most extravagant hotel rooms found at any Disney hotel. Transporting you to a different time and place, every square inch of the suites are full of details and theming. From transporting you back in time to a 1930s safari in the jungles of India and Africa or making you head of your own kingdom, each suite nails its theming perfectly. The worst part of your stay will be the time you check out and leave your new environment behind.
After touring each suite, we fell in love with each room and cannot wait to stay in one of these suites one day. The rooms are notoriously expensive, but along with the fantastic rooms, guests of the signature suites receive some great perks. Along with Club Level, guests will receive their own VIP coordinator who can plan every aspect of their vacation. The coordinator can reserve preferred seating for shows and priority seating for dining reservations. After using this service before, I can say it is worth it and will make your trip even more magical.
The Disney theme parks succeed because they invest so many resources to craft a romanticized environment for us to escape from the mundane of modern life. When we visit the theme parks, we want to leave the modern world behind and enter a new world. Most of the time, this experience ends once we leave the theme parks.
But with the signature suites, you enter a new world via your hotel room. The fun of the theme parks does not end once you retire to your room. Instead, you can grab your family and friends and continue to build out of this world experiences. The suites feature so many different details you can spend all night discovering them.
As the modern world continues to become a dark place, escapism is more prevalent than ever. If you can afford it, book a suite (we recommend the Adventureland Suite), escape into a different world and build ever lasting memories with your family and friends. It will be worth it.
