As we contemplate life without Disney during the current health crisis, we thought it would be fun to discuss the greatest challenge at EPCOT and all of Walt Disney World. To my novice readers, Drinking Around the World is a time honored tradition at EPCOT for those individuals who enjoy alcoholic beverages. With 11 different countries, this is no easy task (on your health and your wallet).
Over the years, Stella and I have attempted this challenge with various degrees of “success”. We first Drank Around the World during our trip to Walt Disney World back in 2016. Due to weather and other last minute changes to our itinerary, we only had three hours to complete the challenge. We finished it but we did not enjoy it. We did it again in 2019 over the course of a full day and found the experience a lot more fun.
Pro Tip: DO NOT do this challenge in three hours. PLEASE take your time (or not, life is short right?)
Through trial and error we’ve learned from our mistakes and hope to pass our knowledge to our readers. Drinking Around the World is a fun challenge for adults visiting EPCOT and is an unique experience found only at EPCOT.
Our guide will break down the drink options at each country and our recommendations. Our guide will focus only on alcoholic beverages as we do not buy the non-alcoholic specialties (too much sugar). If we are not drinking alcohol, then we just drink water. If we must spend over $10 on a drink, it better have some booze.
The countries in EPCOT follow (for the most part, there are exceptions) a similar dining format. Each country has a full service restaurant and counter service options (including carts/kiosks). Some countries, like Mexico and France, offer a variety of different options and others, like Norway, offer very little selections. Something to keep in mind as you travel from country to country.

First Stop: Mexico
Ah, it is so exciting starting this challenge. With all your pent up energy, we will enter Mexico first and continue traveling clockwise. Guests entering World Showcase from Future World we see Mexico on your left. Go ahead and enter Mexico and marvel at the Mayan pyramid and smile as you recall it’s full of booze!
In general, Mexico has a heavy lineup of dining choices and plenty of locations to buy a classic margarita, frozen margarita, draft beer or just good ol’ shots of tequila (perfect way to warm up).
With all the different choices, it may be hard to make a decision. See the complete list of drink choice below. We recommend a shot of tequila to get you ready.

Mexico is a heavy hitter for Drinking Around the World and a great introduction to this challenge. When we Drank Around the World, we purchased drinks from La Cava del Tequila, La Cantina de San Angel and Choza de Margartita.
For our recommendations, we recommend:
- “La Choza” Classica
- Patron Strawberry on the Rocks
- A nice shot of tequila from La Cava del Tequila
Although I listed the specialty drinks for the sit down restaurants, they do serve beer and wine (but that’s no fun for your first stop). With beer and wine plentiful on this journey, go for a margarita or tequila shot. If you are hungry, the counter service restaurants do serve small plates, like chips and guacamole. Remember, don’t drink on an empty stomach.
Buy your drink, take some pictures with the pyramid (or Donald) and enjoy yourself as you think about your next ten drinks. Once you finish your beverage, drink some water, grab your things and begin your walk across the Atlantic and enter Norway. “Adios” Mexico!
Second Stop: Norway
After the colossus of beverage options that is Mexico, your next stop is Norway. There is no way around it, Norway is terrible for Drinking Around the World. Norway hosts two spots to pick up alcoholic beverages. The first, Akershus, is the Frozen inspired character buffet. The second, Kringla Baken Og Kafe, functions as more of a bakery than a spot for drinks.
We don’t recommend dropping money on the character buffet leaving the bakery as your best option. See the list below for the lineup for beverages available in Norway:

And that’s it. Not much to choose from in Norway. Since you are adulting and Drinking Around the World, we will assume you will not be shelling out your hard earned money on a princess buffet (which probably wouldn’t be a good idea while drinking).
Instead, stop at the bakery. The only mixed drink is the Viking Coffee, which is coffee mixed with Bailey’s and coffee liqueur. Or beer. Or, if you see the picture above, a canned cider. All suck but get the coffee. You may need it after the tequila.
For our recommendations, we recommend:

Drink it quickly and move on. No point wasting time with your busy schedule. Drink some water and travel east to one of humanity’s oldest civilizations, the Middle Kingdom itself, China. “Ha det” Norway!
Third Stop: China
Two drinks in, our next stop brings us to China. The China Pavilion looks cool and thankfully contains more drink options. However, the options aren’t spectacular. Your best bet is a light Chinese beer. The mixed drinks are full of sugar and a teeny bit of vodka.

Better choices than Norway, but still not a lot to choose from unfortunately. Grab your beer and take some pictures with the Chinese architecture. If your lucky, Mulan may be visiting and you can grab a quick photo with her.
Once you finish your beer, drink some water and prepare yourself to travel east to Central Europe. Our next stop is a heavy hitter in beer. “Zaijian” China!
Fourth Stop: Germany
Three drinks in, you’ve found yourself in Germany! Ahhh…Germany. This pavilion is great. As you walk in, you’ll instantly transport (Disney Magic or booze?) to a Bavarian village in the middle of an Oktoberfest celebration. How could anyone not like an endless Oktoberfest celebration?
We love the German Pavilion and its options for…beer! Currently, the pavilion has two main areas for alcohol consumption. The Biergarten restaurant is a full service buffet recreating the feel of an Oktoberfest tent, complete with a live band.
The other option is Sommerfest, a quick service dining option. In addition to beer, it also serves German staples, like sausages and apple strudel. For those making a quick stop in Germany or without dining reservations, this is your best bet for a beer in Germany.
The pavilion does serve wine and German liqueors like Jager and schnapps, but plan for a beer. See below for the full list of options:

When given the option, always opt for a stein over a pint. A stein is a litter and has about three beers worth of golden liquidy goodness for you to enjoy (you’re on vacation). Pro Tip: During our trip to Oktoberfest, we learned three steins is the magic number for a good time (four, not so much).
Anyways, after you grab your beer, and take in the sights of Germany. The pavilion has some cool gift shops. One sells a bunch of different glasses where you can get your own stein and another store sells Christmas decorations all year. And if you are feeling really good after one stein (and your drinks from Mexico, Norway and China), you can lineup to a take a photo with Snow White (SchneeWittchen).

Alas, time is of the essence. Chug the beer, take some last minute pictures, maybe have some water and move towards the Mediterranean, towards Italy. “Auf Wiedersehen” Deutschland!
Fifth Stop: Italy
Four drinks in, I hope we are feeling pretty good. I know I am.
Like Mexico, Italy has a solid lineup of choices for selecting an adult beverage. With two full service restaurants, one lounge and a cart, there are plenty of options to buy a drink. Wine, beer and specialty drinks can be found with ease throughout the pavilion.
Before we list the dining choices, there are a couple of important notes. Tutto Italia Ristorante and Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar are in the same building, with the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar as the bar/lounge for Tutto Ristorante. As a result, they serve the same beverages. Also, I will not be listing the wine selection for Tutto Wine Cellar/Ristorante and Via Napoli (it’s a lot). Plus, I think we understand. They are Italian restaurants, they serve wine. Lots and lots of different wines.

If you are hungry, Via Napoli is an excellent spot for pizza. The other full service restaurants are expensive and we do not recommend you visit. After two beers in a row, a Negroni is an excellent refreshing cocktail to help “hydrate” your body and soul.
The Italian Pavilion has great places for photos and some street shows, which can be fun after five drinks (so I’ve been told).
Well, looks like we need to keep moving. Drink. Once you finish, find your water bottle and take a couple gulps. It gets hot in Florida. With the fifth stop completed and the buzz settling in, it is time to head to good ‘ole USA. “Addio” Italy!
Sixth Stop: America
Five drinks in, it’s time to visit the pre-revolutionary America. One would think we can enter taverns and talk to statesmen like Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson. Imagine those conversations with booze flowing through your veins. Sounds so exciting.
And, nope. With EPCOT based in America, one would think that the American Pavilion would be a great place to grab a beverage on your world tour. Unfortunately, we’ve found the US to be lacking in unique beverage options (and dead statesmen).
Your options range from generic American beers and wine, to one cocktail, a frozen lemonade with bourbon. It’s lame but allows you to spend more time in better pavilions.

Like I said, America does not offer a lot of choices for a drink. America is also the only pavilion that doesn’t offer a full service restaurant. Maybe it’s because we can experience America any time we want? Who knows. Below is our recommendations:

- Angry Orchid Hard Apple Cider
The Red Stag lemonade is pretty refreshing and easy to drink. Definitely the best choice in America. Once you finish your drink, you are over halfway down.
Well done for making it this far. We now recommend you drink a couple water bottles and watch the American Adventure to take a break and relax. You still have five more pavilions to visit and more alcohol to consume. After watching the awesome American Adventure three or four times, use the restroom and make your way to the land of the rising sun, Japan. “Good Bye” America!
Seventh Stop: Japan
Six drinks in. I hope you can still continue. Pro Tip: Drink some more water.
Following the disappointment that is the American Pavilion, Japan is one of the better pavilions in EPCOT. And since this is Japan, we can drink sake! I’m sure everyone is either full or sick of drinking of beer. Fortunately, sake is light and lower on ABV, making it a perfect choice for the seventh stop.

There isn’t a formal menu online, but the Mitsukoshi Department Store has a sake bar with a variety of different sake for purchase and tasting. During our last trip Around the World, we purchased our sake from Mitsukoshi. The store has the largest selection of sake outside of the formal dining restaurants, make it a quick and easy option without needing to purchase an expensive meal.
For our recommendations, we recommend the following:
- Sake at Mitsukoshi
- Sapporo
- Kirin
We advise against eating at the expensive sit down restaurants. Instead, grab a quick and tasty sake from Mitsukoshi and sip on it as you wander the huge department store. Then, take some pictures outside, drink some H2O and prepare for your visit to Northern Africa. “Sayonara” Japan!
Eighth Stop: Morocco
How we feeling? If you need to sit down, please, sit down. Take a break. Your manhood will be just fine if you need a breather. Hopefully your friends are forgiving.
Upon leaving Japan, you will enter the Kingdom of Morocco. The Moroccan pavilion is small, but full of details. It is one of our favorite pavilions in terms of theming and details. After enjoying seven drinks, spend some time taking pictures (and sobering up) before you purchase your next drink.
For drink options, Morocco has two table service restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages. One restaurant, Spice Road Table, offers drinks to go and is our go to spot for an adult beverage in Morocco. Each dining location offers specialty cocktails and beer/wine from countries around the Mediterranean. For simplicity, we will not be listing all the wine choices (there is a lot) but each location has the standard choices: sparkling, white and red. Each glass of wine ranges from $8 – $12 with bottles costing $28 – $45.

Enjoy your beverage and ask for a glass of water with your order. And if you’re hungry, ask to sit outside at Spice Road Table, which offers an excellent view of the lake. Who knows, maybe you’ll see Aladdin or Jasmine. But after eight drinks, please avoid taking a picture.
Once you’re ready, it’s time to head back to Europe and visit France. “Wadaeaan” Morocco!
Ninth Stop: France
Pat yourself on the back, you’re almost done! Eight drinks, wow, good job! At this point, turn off Snap Chat. Nobody online cares anymore plus you don’t want to post anything you’ll regret. Actually, maybe it’s best to just ignore your phone and focus on consuming more alcohol.
This is the final stretch. The pavilion does offer quite of few beverage options. In our experience, as France is on the tail end of our journey, we opt to visit one of the quick service carts and move on. The pavilion does offer full service restaurants for those in need of some French cuisine.

During our travels Around the World, we prefer to grab a drink at Les Vins des Chefs de France. It’s quick, easy and offers plenty of selections. As for recommendations, we recommend:
- Le Geant Slush
- Orange
- Kronenbourg
Buy your beverage, maybe catch a showing of Impressions de France (or the Beauty and Beast Sing-Along if the booze is really flowing) and of course, take some pictures. Just don’t act too crazy with Aurora (you don’t wanna get kicked out).
On second thought, don’t sing nor see Aurora. Too risky. Just drink and stay out of trouble.
Pound a water and then make the trip across the channel, to merry old Britain! “Au Revoir” France!
Tenth Stop: United Kingdom
You’ve done it. You’ve reached the land of Alice and Marry Poppins. The land of Fish’n’Chips and other terrible foods. But mostly importantly, the UK is the penultimate country on our tour Around the World. You are almost done. So close in fact, you can almost taste it.

The strength of the UK’s beverage options will be at the Rose & Crown Pub. However, the pub is generally busy and reservations are recommended. It also has a bar but those seats fill quickly. Since this is almost the end and you just want to finish this tour, go to the beer cart and grab a quick beer. At this point who cares anymore. Just buy it and drink it.

- Good (and expensive) Macallan 18 (you’re on vacation right?)
Maybe a shot of Scotch is needed to pull you through to the end. As you drink your beer (or Scotch) you see Canada. She is so close yet so far away. Drink. Just drink.

Real quick, do me a favor, and drink some water. Wait for security to walk by and then go ahead and depart across the Atlantic. Safer this way my friend. Trust me.
Eleventh Stop: Canada
CANADA! I LOVE YOU CANADA!
Never thought you would say that one day huh? After ten drinks at EPCOT, Canada is a dream come true. You’ve done it. You’ve reached the glowing warm light at the end of the tunnel that is Canada. Sweet, beautiful Canada.
Here you are. At the end. Victory is so close. Just one more drink. And thankfully Canada is a small pavilion with few choices. There is a fancy steak restaurant but who wants to go in there after ten drinks? Besides, all your money was spent on booze anyway. Okay, let’s get to the point. I’m sure you are over this post (as am I).

With Canada as our final stop last year, we went to the wonderfully named Popcorn in Canada cart and ordered some beer. We drank it. I didn’t want it but we drank it. Then I threw the cup away and wanted to do nothing again for the rest of my life. Just kidding. I wanted so much water.
Just chug the beer. Don’t sip it. Get it over with and find some awesome H2O. You deserve it. What a journey.
Make sure to send your receipts to Bob Iger so he can personally thank you for your hard work. Well deserved.
Conclusion
If you were able to make it this far and read my entire post, then you have my blessing to complete the Drinking Around the World tour at EPCOT. It is no easy feat. Remember, Walt Disney himself never Drank Around the World. By completing this challenge, you will do something Walt never could do during his lifetime.
Anyway, 11 countries is a lot. Do what you can to stay hydrated, take breaks, eat some food and take your time. To save money and time, we always recommend purchasing your drinks at counter service restaurants or carts. We recommend a sit down establishment for lunch. Biergarten and Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria are excellent spots for a sit down meal with great beverage selections and easy to get ADRs.
Lastly, remember to have fun. It is a cool experience and a challenge that can only be attempted in Central Florida. Take plenty of pictures (stop after like eight drinks) and enjoy those special moments with your family and friends. If you can, custom t-shirts are pretty cool too.
